Manifesting isn’t hard. It’s not something you need to learn. It’s only something you’ve been doing your entire life and need to become aware of.
See, that’s it — awareness is key.
So many people, when they hear about the magic of the Law of Attraction, get all psyched up with all the so-called manifesting techniques out there. At some point, I too have fallen for all of that too. I did affirmations. I wrote manifesting scripts. I bought gratitude journals. I tried to go into the vortex. I meditated for hours on end hoping that would give me plenty of time to create the emotion of having what I wanted.
I didn’t realize until much later that, while these Law of Attraction techniques can help to some extent, they are not actually where the magic of manifesting came from. They are simply tools that may or may not make your life easier. But, ultimately, you can do without them.
After all, you don’t really need them. All you need is to become aware of how you’ve been manifesting your entire life up to this moment. And what that entails is to become more conscious of how you create your own experiences on autopilot.
You see, there is no single manifesting technique that will create your reality. It’s what you imagine that does. And every day and every moment, you’re always imagining things — things that you like and don’t like, which is why you now have things that you like and don’t like in your life.
It’s that simple. And it’s that easy. But our stubborn human minds want to make it for more complicated than that. So we come up with all sorts of techniques and methods that we end up putting on a pedestal, forgetting that all we really need to do is to pause, imagine, and surrender to what we have experienced in imagination.
That’s it. That’s all you really need to do. Let me break it down for you.
Take a break from the busyness of your day and give yourself some time to imagine what you would like to bring to life. You don’t have to spend an hour doing this. You don’t have to get into a bubble bath or play relaxing music. You can simply turn away from whatever you’re doing at the moment and turn your attention inward to that place of calm, quiet centeredness. Relax, release, take a deep breath if you must.
Remember, it shouldn’t take forever for you to get to this point. If you’re floundering about waiting for things to fall into place — for your kids to go to sleep or for your boss to approve, for example— then you’re not doing it right. Relaxation is the key. Even just a couple of seconds of relaxing will work wonders.
Why do you need to do this when can always imagine things up even when you’re not in relaxation mode? That’s true. Humans have been creating all sorts of things since the dawn of time without having taken the time to relax. But it’s easier this way. You create with far less effort and far less resistance when you’re creating in relaxed mode, as opposed to being stressed, stressed, stressed all the time.
For sure, you’re always creating, whatever mood you are in. But it’s this pause, this relaxation, this slide back down into awareness that will connect you to the true power within. When you make a habit of pausing, you start to notice something else. You start to realize that this thing called manifesting is so much more than just a New Age ploy to acquire material things. You start to notice oneness. You start to notice connectedness. You start to notice that you don’t have to look elsewhere for what you’re looking for because, ultimately, what you’re looking for you already have.
Now that you’re in that pregnant pause where nothing and everything exists at the same time, shift your awareness to notice what it feels like to be the person you want to be. Take note, I didn’t say to notice what it feels like to have the thing you want to have. The former is based on changing the only thing you can change in the world — that is, yourself. The latter is based on manipulating things and people outside of yourself to fulfill your desires.
This is a crucial point, one you don’t want to miss. Manifesting isn’t about changing external circumstances. It’s about becoming who you want to be. Change who you are and the world outside of you, which is really all inside of you, will reshape itself to suit how you see yourself. So make this whole experience about you. Who do you want to be? Then imagine yourself already being that person you want to become.
Now, pay close attention because there’s a right way to imagine. Many people think imagining is watching a movie inside their heads. They feel themselves separate from the moving picture as they watch an image of themselves projected onto a mental screen in front of them. That’s not how to go about it. Why? Because you’re separating yourself out of the experience.
For your imaginal activity to turn into physical reality, you must fully and experience it yourself. You must be able to feel what that person you want to become feels. You must experience the sensations and emotions. You must be so in there that you completely forget about whatever current circumstances you’re in.
And how do you do that? You include yourself in the experience. Instead of watching your body from a distance, slide into that body. If you want to manifest drinking a glass of cold water, how would that feel for you? Can you feel the cool, crystal glass against your lips? Can you taste the subtle sweetness of the water as it slides down your throat? Can you feel the relief of quenching your thirst on a hot afternoon?
You need to experience exactly what that body experiences, including the thoughts, emotions, and sensations that come up during the imaginal act. That’s what manifesting is all about. It’s about experiencing now, in this moment, what you would like to experience. You don’t have to wait for the future to bring you want you want. If you can feel it to be real now, then consider it done. You no longer need to do anything about it, unless you are compelled by some inexplicable inner nudge to do something about it.
And so we come to the third and final step.
This is where things can get trippy. It’s easy to imagine that you are who you want to be. What isn’t so easy is when you come back to the solid, physical reality that reminds you that you do not yet have what you want.
Here’s what you need to do. You need to ignore your physical reality. Go about your day knowing that you already are who you want to be. After all, you’ve already experienced what it’s like to be that person. You are that person now. You’re no longer the person you were before your imaginal activity.
How can you do that? How can you ignore the very real fact that you only have a few coins in your purse, believing all the while that you have created unlimited, abundant wealth? You simply let the situation be. Do not add meaning. Do not make up stories about who you are simply because you don’t have enough money to buy even a cup of coffee. It is simply what it is — and it doesn’t mean anything about who you are.
Because who you are comes from within. It is never determined by any external circumstances or situations that you might think you have no control over. Who you really are is bigger than any of those circumstances. Who you are can actually choose which circumstances you want to be in. You are so much more than you think you are, but first you have to let go of the idea that these physical things around you and the tangible situations you find yourself in determine your lot in life.
It’s the other way around. You choose how your life plays out. You choose who you become in this life. And, by extension, you choose what things, people, and experiences come into your life.
Always keep this in mind. Repeat it over and over again in your head until you begin to accept it as truth. It is the truth anyway, whether you like it or not. Have you ever noticed that whatever you accept as real for you is what shows up in your physical world? What you believe is real is what becomes real for you. The best thing about it is you don’t even have to force yourself to believe. You simply have to use your imagination. You simply have to experience first inside your head what it’s like to be that person you want to be. Everything else flows from there, as long as you let that experience feel real.
Practice this daily. Ask yourself what you’d like to manifest, whether that’s a chocolate chip cookie or a free trip to a tropical island for the weekend. Imagine you being the person who already has what you want. Experience the chocolate chip cookie, experience the tropical beach vibes. Immerse yourself so much in the experience so that your brain has no choice but to believe that you already have what you want.
Do this often. Do this every day. It’s the only way for you to become a master at consciously creating the life you want to have.
